Tal como os seus predecessores, Orwell escreveu uma fábula, uma história personificada por animais. Mas há nesta fábula algo de inquietante. Classicamente, atribuir aos animais os defeitos e os ridículos dos humanos, se servia para censurar a sociedade, servia igualmente para nos tranquilizar, pois ficavam colocados à distância, "no tempo em que os animais falavam", os vícios de todos nós e as sua funestas consequências. Em A Quinta dos Animais o enredo inverte-se. É a fábula merecida por uma época - a nossa época - em que são os homens e as mulheres a comportar-se como animais.» Opinião: A Quinta dos Animais começa, devido às personagens e ao
mundo em que se passa, por gerar estranheza ao leitor. No entanto, devido a
estes mesmos fatores, acaba também por tornar a ação bastante interessante,
especialmente quando se repara em toda a simbologia que rodeia o mundo, as
personagens e as suas ações.
Ao seguir a revolta dos animais que os leva a ficar com a
quinta antes liderada por um humano e a conquista desses animais de uma vida
utópica, é bastante interessante a forma subtil, mas rápida, com que a
manipulação vai sendo feita.
O livro mostra-nos como as pessoas são capazes de manipular
as pessoas à sua volta e que, se as pessoas não forem cuidadosas e atentas
podem ser facilmente manipuladas. Ao mesmo tempo, mostra ao leitor a
necessidade de realmente acreditarmos em algo e não naquilo que as pessoas à
nossa volta nos dizem ser a verdade.
George Orwell foi capaz de criar uma critica política forte
quando pouca gente tinha coragem de o fazer, fazendo de A Quinta dos Animais um
livro ainda mais fantástico, sendo um daqueles livros que toda a gente deveria
ler pelo menos uma vez na vida. Só não se esqueça que
"Todos os animais são iguais, mas alguns são mais iguais que os outros".

Review: The beginning of this book may cause some strangeness
to the reader due to the characters and the surrounding world. However, these
elements make the narrative very interesting, particularly when you notice that
everything is symbolic, from the characters to the way they act.
It’s striking the subtle, but quick way the
manipulation of the animals, that end up conquering the farm that was ruled by
a human and the conquering of a utopic life, is made.
This book shows us that people can
manipulate others around them and that if people aren’t careful and attentive
they can be easily manipulated. At the same time, it shows the reader the
necessity of truly believing in something and not in what others say is the
truth.
George Orwell had the capacity to make a strong
political criticism in a time when few people had the guts to do it, making
Animal Farm an even more fantastic book. It’s one of those books that everybody
should read at least once in their life. Just don’t forget that “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”.
