Release Boost Packet - Damaged by Willow Winters

Title: Damaged
Author: Willow Winters
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: December 14, 2017

I married the bad boy from Brooklyn.
The one with the tattoos and the look in his eyes that told me he was bad news.
The look that comes with all sorts of warnings.
I knew what I was doing.
I knew by the way he put his hands on me; how he owned me with his forceful touch.
I couldn’t say no to him, not that I wanted to. That was then, and it seems like forever ago.
Years later, I’ve grown up and moved on. But he’s still the man I married. Dangerous in ways I don’t like to think about. Sexy as sin, he attracts all the wrong kinds of temptations.
The kind that lands a couple like us in the gossip columns.
The kind that’s unforgivable.
The kind that splits up marriages.
I did this to myself. I knew better than to love him.
And now I’m fucked.
I married the bad boy from Brooklyn. And I don’t know how to survive this.

Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Bestselling Romance Author. She likes her action hot and her bad boys hotter. She certainly doesn’t hold back on either one in her writing!

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

She made me a better man, but I still wasn’t good enough to keep her.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, with sleeve tattoos, ripped muscle and a cold-hearted stare, I am who I am.  The bad boy she knew to stay away from.
I knew we were never supposed to last.  But the way her lips tasted, the way her curves felt under my hands…  I couldn’t let go. I did everything I could to keep her.
I put on a ring on her finger and straightened out my life.  All for her.
I should’ve known better.
One mistake tore us apart and I don’t know what I can do to salvage what we once had.
I knew it wasn’t supposed to last, but if I could make her stay with me once...  I can do it again.
Watch me. I love my sweetheart; I’m not losing her again.

Excerpt

Evan

Damn me for what I’ve done,
Hate me for the lie.
Let the web weave and thread,
But don’t let what we have die.

I know it in my blood,
She’s mine to keep and hold.
I’ll stop fighting only once,
When I’m dead and cold.

The piles of dirt are getting larger. The metal shovels pierce the frozen soil. The sound cuts through my bones, one and then another and another.
It’s been constant as I stand here, helpless. I’ve never been colder, the wind and bitter snow beseiging my body, but I still don’t move.
I can’t take my eyes from the two graves.
The shovels spill the dirt, the piles mounting as my eyes drift to the tombstones.
The first my father, a man who died before his time. A death of tragedy.
And then to my wife’s. My love’s. Gone before her time. No one believes me. He put her there. James killed her.
My eyes pop open wide when I hear Kat whisper, “It’s all your fault.”

I wake up breathless, my heart pounding and I swear I can feel Kat’s hot breath on my neck even though I’m alone. My eyes dart around the room as I slowly lift my body into a sitting position on the bed.
Just a terror. The same as last night.
I’m quick to grab the video monitor for the security system from the nightstand and flick the button on to bring it to life. I had it installed after the break-in.
It’s only when I see Kat in our bed, that my heart starts to calm, and my heated skin seems to succumb to the chill of reality.
She’s okay.
I close my eyes and when I open them, it’s an image of her rolling over in bed. To my side. My fingers brush the glass where she is. I’ll be there soon. I’ll be with her and it’ll all be over. I won’t let her down.

Damaged

Original Title: Damaged
Author: Willow Winters
Publisher: EverAfter Romance
Pages: 300 pages
Synopsis: «It was easy to love Kat.
I didn’t know that’s what it was at first. I knew I wanted her, that I’d stop at nothing to have her in my bed. Ruining her the best way I knew how and making sure she was mine and mine alone.
Taking her was one thing, but I should have known better than to think a man like me could hold on to a woman like her.
There’s only so much I could hide and so much I could run, before the past and my sins caught up to me.
And now it’s too late.
She can’t know the truth; no one can.
She’s mine in every way and I refuse to let her go.
But I don’t know how much more she can take before her love turns to hate.

Damaged was my first contact with this author and it was, without a shadow of a doubt, a good start.
The story follows Evan and Kat, a couple that everyone would call perfect and that one day, thanks to Evan, is involved in an extremely media covered scandal that puts the relationship at stake.
Before each chapter, there’s a poem supposedly written by the character that is going to narrate and, since we have both points of view, I found it an excellent detail (on Amazon you can find an ebook with just the poems that, at the time this was written, is free. So I recommend it for those who want to read them or just save them).
Regarding the characters, I really like Evan, even though he annoyed me a lot throughout the story, specially by hiding secrets from her wife because they are, allegedly, too dangerous for her, when I actually think that, since she was already involved by being marred to him, they weren’t that special. With this said, I really liked Kat, however, the same problem applies to her that I applied to her husband – both fantastic characters, but over complicated in an unnecessary way most of the time. Overall, the character I liked the most was Maddie, one of Kat’s closest friends that ends up a wallflower throughout the story, but I’m eager to see more of on the next book of the duology.
Honestly, what annoyed me the most weren’t the characters themselves but their actions – Evan doesn’t want to share things with the person he should trust the most and Kat acts like a true teenager instead of an adult.
A part that the author built up very well was the suspense: the book has moments, even in the beginning, that the reader doesn’t know the secrets or how deep they are and the curiosity is very high and, when the mystery ends, the story gets very heavy real quick. Even though for me the plot twist wasn’t completely surprising or unexpected, the author wrote the whole thing very well.
Since in this series, to each couple we have a book, I only felt that the story truly started at the end of this book. But, we have, with no doubts whatsoever, the creation of a perfect environment to develop even better the second book and I’m thrilled to read it, therefore I highly recommend it.
Good readings.
(3.5 out of 5 stars)

Series Reveal - Sins & Secrets Series by Willow Winters

Title: Sins & Secrets Series
Author: Willow Winters
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Love is inexplicable. It makes you do crazy things. Love is blind… that’s a saying for a reason, isn’t it?

If anyone ever heard my story, they’d say what I did was wrong.

Even my closest friends. They wouldn’t understand. No one would.

But even my friends have sins and secrets of their own. Their stories would send chills down your spine and make you think twice about just how powerful love can be. How corrupt… how deadly.

I’ll do what I do best as an author. I’ll write my tale, but they aren’t safe. I won’t let them judge me without having their own dark stories unveiled as well.

I’ll write it all down and put a pretty little bow on it.

The Sins and Secrets Series of Duets is here.

with love,

Jules (Imperfect, Sins and Series book 1)
